Pecos

Marjorie Duke, 88, passed in peace on April 16, 2020. She was born to the late Clark and Mynalee (Rogers) Cooper in Gallegos, New Mexico on August 1, 1931.

Margie, as we knew her, moved to Pecos in 1956 with her husband, Jack M. Duke, to pursue a career in farming. Together with army friend, Walter Shaw, they farmed cotton until 1977 when they entered the automobile business. Margie gladly lived in Pecos until her death. Margie was a member of the Women’s Cotton Association, the Ding-A-Ling Club, hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Reeves County Hospital Board, and First Presbyterian Church. Margie loved people. She is fondly remembered by family and friends as a proud mother and grandmother, avid supporter of the Pecos Rodeo and festivities, singing in the church choir, and working in the family business, Colt Chevrolet.

Margie is survived by two sons and their spouses, Craig and Roni Duke of Midland, Kevin and Cindy Duke of Pecos, four grandsons and their spouses, Tye and Dani Edwards of Midland, Trey and Lacie Edwards of Kermit, Nathan Duke of Portland, OR, Coe Duke of Pecos, four great grandchildren, and a devoted caregiver, Adela Snellenburger.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband, Jack M. Duke. A private service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to First Presbyterian Church in Pecos.
