Jerald Shaw

PECOS, TEXAS

Jerald Lester Shaw, 84, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed into heaven Wednesday, February 26, 2020.  He was born May 31, 1935, to the late J. Gerard and Martha Shaw in Campo, Colorado.  He married Claudette Dixon in July of 1952.  After serving in the US Army, stationed in Korea in 1958, he joined his wife in Pecos, Texas in 1960.  He and his family moved to Baird, Texas, in March of 1980, while he held a postmaster position, but returned to Pecos in March 1981.  He retired from the US Postal Service in 1999, serving a total of 41 years.  Jerald enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling on many leagues throughout the early years where he earned the name "Pappy".  Jerald was a member of the West Park Baptist Church and loved to sing church hymns.

Jerald is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Claudette.  He is survived by his son Brent and wife, Tracy, granddaughter, Lindsey Birch and husband, Joel, of Pecos; and Grandson, Bradley and wife, Jayde of Lubbock, Texas.  He is also survived by one brother, Kenneth Shaw and wife, Wilma of Campo, Colorado, and two nephews, Norman and Steve Shaw and their families.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Focused Care at Pecos and the Reeves County Hospital for the excellent care provided to Jerald.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials to be made to the West of the Pecos Museum.  Viewing will be held at Pecos Funeral Home on Friday, February 28, 2020.  Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kevin Zimdars officiating; burial will follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.  Services entrusted to Pecos Funeral Home.
