Byron Wayne “Shot” Paschal, 75, of Pecos, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 in Pecos, Texas.Shot was born in El Paso, Texas to Walter Byron and Jackie Colleen Carr Paschal on January 24, 1946. He graduated from Pecos High School in Pecos, Texas. He served in the Army, as a radio repairman and was stationed in Seoul, Korea. On August 30, 1969, Shot married Kathryn Fay Youngblood in Pecos, Texas. They were married 39 years until her death on September 13, 2008. He married Janey Loree Fisher on April 9, 2010. Shot and Janey were married 11 years. Shot was a day worker, cowboy, and rancher for 75 years. He left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was a shining example of what a Christian man should be. Shot was unparalleled as a cattleman and he left a mighty big hole in the hearts of all who loved him. When Shot got to the gates of heaven he was granted one wish by Saint Peter, because he was not carrying anything with him. Shot asked for rain for West Texas! He was a member of West Park Baptist Church in Pecos, Texas.
Shot is preceded in death by his Parents, Walter Byron “Red” Paschal and Jackie Colleen Carr Paschal; his brother, Douglas “Bud” Paschal; and his wife, Kathryn Fay Youngblood Paschal.
Shot is survived by his wife, Janey Loree Fisher Paschal; son Travis Lee Fisher; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Wayne and Erin Adele Fisher; sister Margaret and her husband, Phillip Ryan; sister Patricia and her husband Jerry Figures; Sister-n-law Kay and her husband, Dean Soderstrom; Sister-in-law Ellen Friar; Granddaughter, Scarlett Joyce Fisher; Grandson, Garrett Wayne Fisher; Granddaughter, Elliette Loree Fisher; Nieces - Rebecca Atkins, Penny Stevenson, and Mary Hughes; Nephews - Jeff Ryan, Bart Ryan, Buddy Paschal, Jacky Paschal, Kevin Ryan, Kenneth Friar, Chris Friar, Michael Soderstrom, Patrick Figures, and Stephen Figures.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021 @ 3pm at West Park Baptist Church with Pastor Rey Carreon officiating. A Memorial Horseback Ride, from the corner of Farm Roads 873 & 3398, will follow Shot’s Riderless Horse to the Barstow Cemetery, where a 21 gun salute will honor his service to our great nation and an acapella version of Amazing Grace will be sung to commend his spirit to heaven where he will hear, “well done, thou good and faithful servant”.
