Thomas Franklin "Tommy" Cunningham

November 3, 1946 - July 8, 2026

Thomas Franklin "Tommy" Cunningham left this world on July 8, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and unconditional love that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Born on November 3, 1946, in Big Spring, Texas, Tommy was the son of Clifton Carl Cunningham and Coryne Rose Cunningham.

Tommy proudly served his country in the United States Army, completing two tours of duty in Vietnam. The strength, courage, and quiet determination he carried through those years remained with him throughout his life. After returning home, he married the love of his life, Sue Rodgers. They built a life together until her passing in 2015, and her memory remained close to his heart.

He is survived by his two sons, Steve Taylor and his wife, Chevon, and David Cunningham and his wife, Elizabeth. He also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren, eight cherished great-grandchildren, and his faithful little dog, Olive, who was rarely far from his side.

Tommy is also survived by his siblings: Charles Ray Cunningham and his wife, Jeannie; Mary Kay Shocklee and her husband, Ed; and Gary Carl Cunningham and his wife, Lerida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Carl Cunningham and Coryne Rose Cunningham; his beloved wife, Sue Cunningham; and his sister, Melissa Gay Graham.

To know Tommy was to know someone who never met a stranger. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, whether through a helping hand, a good story, a quick smile, or simply taking the time to listen.

Nothing brought Tommy more happiness than being "Papa." He adored each of his grandchildren beyond words and celebrated every one of their accomplishments with immense pride. In his later years, the greatest joy in his life was spending time with his youngest grandsons, Madden and Brixton. As the babies of the family, they shared a special bond with their Papa, and he treasured every moment with them. He never missed a ballgame, school program, award ceremony, birthday, or special event if he could help it. Watching them grow, cheering them on, and simply being part of their everyday lives became his greatest blessing. The love he had for those boys was evident to everyone who knew him, while each of his grandchildren held a unique and treasured place in his heart.

Tommy's greatest legacy is the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. His stories, laughter, wisdom, and generous heart will continue to live on through those who knew him. While he will be deeply missed, the memories he created, the values he instilled, and the love he shared will remain with his family forever. He will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday July 22,2026 at the Pecos Funeral Home from 9:00am-9:00pm. Following day, service will be held Thursday July 23,2026 at 1:00pm in the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.
