Sofia Salinas Dominguez, 55, of Pecos, Texas, passed away on August 11, 2026, in Pecos, surrounded by the love of her family.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Pecos Funeral Home, with a Rosary proceeding at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church, burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Sofia was born in Alpine, Texas, on September 24, 1970, to Lorenzo and Aurora Salinas. She was raised in Pecos, Texas, where she attended school and built a beautiful life surrounded by family, friends, and the community she loved.

Sofia shared more than 39 years of love and companionship with her husband, Justo Dominguez III. The two were married on March 30, 2002, in Coyanosa, Texas. Together, they built a life centered around love, family, faith, and devotion to one another.

For more than 20 years, Sofia worked as a cook for Head Start, where she lovingly served countless children throughout the community. She later continued her journey with Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD. Her work was much more than a job; it was another way for Sofia to care for others, something that came naturally to her throughout her life.

Sofia was a devoted wife, loving daughter, caring sister, cherished mother and mother-in-law, proud grandmother, and a treasured friend to many. Above all, she loved her family deeply. Her strength, love, kindness, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her.

Sofia is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Luis and Juanita Munoz, and her paternal grandparents, Jesus and Sabina Salinas.

She is survived by her loving husband, Justo Dominguez III; her sons, Justo Dominguez IV  and daughter-in-law Jayde Dominguez and Jonathan Dominguez; and her daughter-in-law, Cheyanne Dominguez. Her parents, Lorenzo and Aurora Salinas; her siblings, Laura Chabarria, Lorenzo Salinas Jr., and Maribel Velasco; and her beloved grandchildren, listed from oldest to youngest: Keeana Renteria, Jonathan Dominguez, Josiah Dominguez, Justo Dominguez V (JJ), Julian Dominguez, Madden Dominguez, and Brooklyn Dominguez.

Sofia fought many battles throughout her life with incredible courage and strength. Through it all, she remained surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Her life was a testament to perseverance, faith, and unconditional love. Although her family will deeply miss her presence, her memory, her love, and the lessons she gave them will continue to live on through each generation.

Serving as pallbearers will be Justo Dominguez IV, Jonathan Dominguez, Randy Garcia, Michael Garcia, Jose Luis “Joey” Hernandez, Mark Contreras, Edward Chabarria, Lorenzo Salinas Jr. “Pasito,” and Matthew Salinas.

The Dominguez and Salinas families wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of MD Anderson Cancer Center, Angel Care Hospice, Pecos Funeral Home, and Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church for the compassion, care, prayers, and support shown to Sofia and her family.

Sofia will forever be remembered for the love she gave, the strength she carried, and the lives she touched. She fought courageously, loved wholeheartedly, and leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her family and friends.
