Ruth E. Irwin
Ruth E. Irwin, of Pecos, Texas, received her angel wings on August 20, 2026, in Pecos, Texas.
Ruth was born in Lindside, West Virginia, to Jasper and Delcie Booth Lowe on July 9, 1951. She attended Peterstown High School and Marshall University. Ruth married Bruce Irwin on October 9, 1971, in Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Ruth dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a nurse throughout her career. She was also a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the end of the Vietnam conflict.
Ruth was active in her community and generously gave her time to others. She volunteered at the Pecos Museum and Senior Center and was a member of the Methodist Church in Pecos and Stephenville, Texas.
Ruth was preceded in death by her mother, Delcie; father, Jasper; stepfather, Russell Lowe; husband, Bruce Irwin; and sisters, Sarah [surname unclear] of Peterstown, West Virginia, and Cora McCoy of Huntington, West Virginia.
Those left to cherish Ruth’s memory include her daughter, Melissa Black; son-in-law, Robert “Brad” Black; sister, Linda Moser; grandchildren, Alison Irwin and David Batchelor; and great-grandchildren, Sophie, Suzanne, Lorana, and Julie Batchelor.
Services will be held at a later date in November. Interment will take place at a veterans memorial in St. Pete, Florida.
Ruth will be remembered for her lifetime of service—as a nurse, veteran, volunteer, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—and for the many lives she touched along the way.
