Robert "Bobby" Rogers

December 29, 1938 — November 5, 2025

Pecos, Texas

Robert “Bobby” Rogers, 86, of Pecos, Texas, passed away on November 5, 2025.

Memorial services will be at 2 PM on Saturday, November 15th, at the 4th and Bois D’Arc Church of Christ in Pecos. Arrangements are with the Pecos Funeral Home.

Bobby was born in Antoine, Arkansas to Robert Sterling Rogers and Ipanuel (Lamb) Rogers on December 28, 1938. Growing up, he attended schools in Antoine, Texarkana, Barstow (Texas) and Pecos. He married Patricia “Patsy” Hill on January 22, 1958 in Pecos. He worked in farming for many years, growing mostly cotton. He later worked as a truck driver for East Texas Motor Freight and then as a pipeline compressor mechanic for Texas Oil and Gas.

Bobby played three sports in high school, most notably as a catcher on the Eagle baseball team. He enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Dallas Cowboys. He watched most of the Atlanta Braves baseball games when they were televised nationally. He passed his love of sports on to his sons, who in turn have passed it on to their sons.

Faith was important to Bobby. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, serving as a deacon and later as an elder. He taught various Bible classes and prepared meticulously for each class he taught.

Bobby was well respected in Pecos and earned that respect with his honesty and the way he treated people with dignity and fairness. He had a strong work ethic and took his responsibilities seriously. He was a faithful husband and a good father.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father and mother and a son, Gary Rogers. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Patsy; sons Butch (Donna) and Jimmy (April), and daughter-in-law Cindy Rogers; grandchildren Shacie Guyette, Megan Hignight, Michael Rogers, Tori Morris, Carli Cotterell, Marcus Rogers, Garrett Rogers, Derek Rogers and Robert Rogers, along with 15 great-grandchildren.

He will be missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to The New Mexico Christian Children’s Home or the West of the Pecos Museum.
