Mario J. L Flores (Tata), 81, of Pecos Texas, passed away on August 18th, 2025, in Odessa, Texas.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, at Pecos Funeral Home from 1:00pm-9:00pm with a rosary from 7:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 10:00am at Santa Rosa de Lima Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

Mario J. L Flores was born in Pecos, Texas to Lorenzo and Margarita Flores on August 29th,1943. He went to school in Pecos and later joined the United States Marine Corps. Mario was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served for 33 years and was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, The Presidential Unit Citation Award and many more. He married the love of his life Maria Elena Flores on July 2nd, 1988, in Pecos, Texas and worked at the Reeves County Detention Center before retiring.
Mario was a people’s person and everyone around town knew who he was. The main places you’d catch him all the time were Gibson’s or Brownlee because he was always fixing something. He’d take the shirt off his back for anyone and was willing to help with whatever he could. Mario loved golf and in his prime days he made sure to never miss a tournament!
Mario J. L Flores is preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo and Margarita Flores.
Mario J. L. Flores is survived by his wife of 37 years Maria Elena Flores. Children: Martina Orona – Husband Ruben Orona. Margarita Meza – Husband Ernie Meza. Jesus Armendariz. Araceli Salas Aparicio – Husband Jose Salas Aparicio. and Manuel Armendariz. Arturo Martinez, Christina Martinez and Ruben Martinez.
Along with his children, Mario went on to raise a few grandchildren as his own which were Anthony Rodriguez, Julian Gabaldon, Leonela & Federico Urias, and Danny Salcido Jr.
Surviving siblings are Ray Flores and two sisters, Frances Mora and Mary Sanders.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Rodriguez, Julian Gabaldon, Federico Urias Jr, Danny Salcido Jr, Jesus Armendariz, Manuel Armendariz, Dominic Armendariz, and Albert Gonzales Jr.
