Maria Rivas

Maria R. Rivas passed away peacefully in her home in Pecos, TX on Friday, June 14, 2013 at the age of 83 with her family by her side.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Sunday, June 16. A rosary will be prayed Monday, June 17 at 7:30 PM at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 18 at 10:00 AM at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Pecos, with Fr. Fabian Marquez presiding. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Maria was born October 6, 1929 to Senorio and Margarita Ramirez in Canoga Park, California, and was the youngest sibling of 6.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Perfecto Rivas daughter Martha Griffin and sisters Jesusita Ramirez and Manuela Montoya.

She is survived by four daughters and a son: Lupita Armendariz of Odessa, TX Olivia Ramirez of Pecos, TX Celina Rodriguez of Odessa, TX Lori Diaz of Midland, TX and Ernest Rivas of Monahans, TX 12 grandchildren 13 greatgrandchildren and a greatgreatgranddaughter. She also has two sisters, Victoria Garcia of Pecos, TX and Juana Ochoa of Midland, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. She cherished and loved all her family deeply.

Maria was a very active member of Santa Rosa Catholic Church. She was a member of Las Guadalupanas and the ministry program. She helped out in any way she could at the church.

She touched many lives, and will be greatly missed by all.
