Manuela Sanchez Acosta, 100, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Pecos.
Visitation will be Monday Tuesday from 10:00 AM8:00 PM at Pecos Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 10:00 am at Pecos Funeral Home with President Lewis Sparkman of The Church of Jesus Christ of LatterDay Saints, officiating. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Fort Stockton at 2:30. Arrangements are by Pecos Funeral Home.
Manuela Acosta, known to many as Mother or Mommy, was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to Juan Sanchez and Maria Isac Alvarez on October 2, 1913. She married Aurelio A.L. Acosta on July 5, 1929 in Ft. Stockton, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of LatterDay Saints.
She was preceded in death by her husband Aurelio Acosta, daughter, Frances Esparza son, Cruz Acosta three granddaughters three greatgrandchildren one greatgreat grandchild and one greatgreatgreat grandchild, two sisters and a brother.
Mother is survived by daughters, Amelia Reyes and husband Rudy, Rosa Payan and husband Elias, Mary Pallan and husband Arturo, daughterinlaw, Olivia Acosta all of Pecos, Concha Swanson and husband Ernest of Maricopa, AZ and Sylvia Hernandez and husband Jose Angel of Ft. Stockton. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 92 great grandchildren, 97 greatgreat grandchildren and 16 greatgreatgreat grandchildren.
Pallbearers are David Acosta, Wayne Sparkman, Alfonso Esparza, Mike Gaitos, Joshua Payan, Michael Pallan, Joe Angel Hernandez III and Amando Esparza, Jr.
