Juanita J. Herrera

August 29, 1941 — June 8, 2024

Pecos, Texas

Juana Jaso Herrera, 82, earned her wings on Saturday, June 8, 2024. She won her battle with cancer and passed peacefully surrounded by her children and loved ones.

Juanita was born on August 29, 1941 in Balmorhea, Texas to Manuel and Maria Jaso. She was a lifetime Pecos resident and faithful Catholic. Juanita married Carlos Herrera on August 20, 1961 and was blessed with two children, Alvaro and Norma.

She is survived by her husband, Carlos, son Alvaro Herrera (Connie), and daughter Norma Ramirez (Alex). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Stephanie Honaker (Adam), Amalie Madrid (Eduardo), Katherine Ramirez (Jacob), Krystle Ramirez, Kimberlie Redmon (Reagan), Kevin Ramirez and Mylie Herrera and nine great-grandchildren, Ian, Noah and Ava Honaker, Logan, Kynzlie and Jaxon Madrid, Kalleigh and Kayde Munoz and Levi Redmon.

She leaves behind three sisters, Eva Patino, Louisa Pargas, Alejandra Mendoza and numerous nieces and nephews.

Juanita was known to all for her welcoming spirit. She always had a smile on her face and cared for everyone as her own. She was the biggest supporter for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as she attended as many events as she could. She went to many games, plays, awards, and programs and could always be seen smiling and cheering in the stands.
She loved Rosa's tamales, popsicles, Vicente Fernandez, watching sports and sitting out on her porch.

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Maria Jaso, and brothers Leo, Felix and Hilario Jaso Sr.

She will be extremely missed by all her family, friends and loved ones. The Herrera and Ramirez families want to send a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Medical Center Hospital, Reeves Regional Health and Texas Oncology.

Pallbearers are her grandchildren: Stephanie, Amalie, Katherine, Krystle, Kimberlie, Kevin and Mylie.
