Juan Ramon “Johnny Ray” Muniz, 49, of Pecos, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, at Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Johnny was born on August 12, 1976, in Pecos, Texas, to Ramon M. Muniz and Frances Garcia Gaytan.Johnny was a lifelong resident of Pecos. He graduated from Pecos High School in 1994 and continued his education at Odessa College, where he earned his Associate's degree. Throughout his career, Johnny worked many years at the Texas Department of Transportation, Z-Tek Construction and up until his passing, worked as a consultant and inspector for Loving County. He took great pride in his work and in providing for the family he loved so deeply.In September of 1993, Johnny started courting his high school sweetheart, Aracely Hinojoz. For nearly 33 years, Johnny and Aracely built a life and family together. At the center of that life were their four children, Alex, Anthony, Ashton, and Bella and their 2 grandchildren, German and Adelyn. Being a father and grandfather was among Johnny’s greatest blessings, and his family was always at the heart of who he was.One of Johnny’s greatest passions was baseball, but for Johnny, it was about much more than the game. He spent many years coaching his sons and became a special part of the Pecos baseball community. Through coaching, Johnny provided guidance, encouragement, discipline, and friendship to countless young players. The kids he coached weren’t simply players on his teams; he cared about them and wanted to see them succeed both on and off the field. Over the years, he touched the lives of so many young people, many of whom continued to love and respect “Coach Johnny” long after their time on the baseball field had ended.Johnny’s love extended far beyond his immediate family. He shared a special bond with his many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly and who loved him just as deeply. After more than three decades with Aracely, her family was his family, and he was loved as a son and a brother. Johnny held an especially important place in the lives of Aracely’s nieces, Leslie, Neyva and Kristian, who looked up to him as a father figure. He also shared a special bond with his mother-in-law Bel, brother-in-law Tony and sister-in-law Flor.Johnny was more than a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, friend, and coach. To the people who loved him, he was someone they could count on, someone who cared deeply for his family and the people around him, and someone whose presence left an impact. He loved his family with everything he had, and in return, he was loved by so many.

His father Ramon and brother Omar were two of his pillars in life. They were a constant support through every season, in good health and sickness, offering unwavering love, strength and support every step of the way.

Johnny is survived by his high school sweetheart and lifelong wife, Aracely Hinojoz; his children, Alex Muniz, Anthony Muniz (Shada), Ashton Muniz, and his princess Arabella Muniz; his grandchildren, German and Adelyn; his father, Ramon M. Muniz (Claudia); his brothers, Eric Muniz and Omar Muniz (Leslie); as well as his extended Hinojoz family and his many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and the countless young people whose lives he touched through baseball and throughout the Pecos community.Johnny was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Garcia Gaytan, and his father-in-law, Antonio Hinojoz Sr. and all his other family and friends.Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Antonio B.
