With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Josie G. Villanueva, who entered into eternal rest on July 11, 2025 at the age of 64.
A devoted Catholic, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and faithful friend, Josie lived a life defined by her deep faith, boundless love, and tireless devotion to God and family.
Born on May 11, 1961 to the late Albert Gomez and Maria Dawson, she was a pillar of grace, always putting others before herself. Her faith in Jesus Christ and her love for the eucharist guided every step of her life.
For over 25 years, Josie served the community of Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Pecos as a Eucharistic Minister, Catechist, and serving at Santa Rosa kitchen fundraisers . She offered her time, talents, and heart in service to God and others. She believed deeply in the power of prayer and uplifting others through quiet acts of compassion.
Josie’s heart belonged first to the Eucharist and to her family. She was a deeply loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Josie also held a special bond with her mom. Their relationship was one of strength, warmth, and lifelong devotion—a blessing Josie always cherished. Her family was her greatest joy. She supported and guided them with wisdom, grace, and unshakable love.
She is survived by her loving husband, Martin G. Villanueva, daughter April Barr and husband Lorenzo, daughter Leslie Villanueva and husband Alfredo, son Martin Villanueva and wife Sylvia, mother Maria Dawson, sister Peggy Carrasco, brothers Dan Gomez and Martin Gomez, grandchildren D'Amaris, Jesse, Tyreese, Adriel, Monique, Alyssa, Avery, Harley, and multiple nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Albert Gomez, and her brother, Gilbert Gomez, with whom she is now joyfully reunited in God’s eternal kingdom.
Visitation for Josie will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 from 9:00 pm - 9:00 am, with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Pecos Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church in Pecos, Texas.
Burial will follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery.
Josie was a quiet force of love and warmth—always praying for others, always present, always faithful. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the family she so dearly cherished.
