Josefina Gonzales

Josefina Almanza Gonzales, 108, of Barstow, Texas, joined our lord and savior on Thursday, June 22, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones in Barstow, Texas.

Josefina was born in Terlingua, Texas on October 23, 1914, to parents Jose and Francisca Almanza.

She married Jesus Gonzales Sr. on January 31, 1934, in Barstow, Texas where they built their home. Josefina was a homemaker who dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted Catholic who loved her church. Josefina loved spending time outside gardening, playing bingo but most of all, spending time with her family. She also had a love for the Dallas Cowboys.

Josefina is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Francisca Almanza, along with two sons Alfredo and Alfonso. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 74 years Jesus Gonzales Sr.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters Gloria and husband Tito of Barstow, Texas, Elisa Gonzalez of Colton, California, Maricella of Tustin, California, and Sandy Esparza of Midland, Texas, Jenette Tavarez of Aubrey, Texas. Her sons David Gonzales of Barstow, Texas, Efrain Gonzales and wife Cathy of Seminole, Texas, and Cachie Gonzales of Midland, Texas, Peter Maldonado of Midland, Texas, 36 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren, 137 great-great grandchildren and 14 great-great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Margie Munoz, Maria Kennedy, Debbie Rodriguez, Patti Alatorre, Jenette Tavarez and Yvonne Alanis.

Honorary bearer will be Jacob Esparza

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Pecos Funeral home at 2:00 PM. Rosary will be Monday, June 26, 2023, at 7:00 PM at Pecos Funeral Home. Mass will take place on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Barstow, Texas burial will follow at the Barstow Cemetery in Barstow, Texas.
