Jorge Contreras Ramirez Sr., 55, of Pecos, Texas, passed away on June 27, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas, after a courageous battle with stage 4 liver cancer.
Born on June 4, 1971, in Pecos, Texas, Jorge grew up in Saragossa, Texas, as the son of Manuel Ramirez and Natalia Contreras Ramirez. A lifelong hard worker, he began working at the age of 15 and continued nearly to his final days. He built a respected career as a diesel mechanic and professional truck driver, serving as the lead diesel mechanic for Rival Energy for the last seven years. Known by many as a genuine "MacGyver," Jorge could fix anything, anywhere, with whatever tools or materials he had on hand. His love for his Chevy pickups and his mechanical skills brought him great pride.
Jorge was a devout Christian and a God-fearing man, faithfully attending the Church of Christ in Pecos. His faith guided his life and his love for others. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He married the love of his life, Juanita "Janie" Patino, on June 24, 1998, in Pecos, Texas, and cherished her deeply for 28 years. He was the best father to his six children and remained very close to all of them. Jorge adored his 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, finding his greatest joy in time spent with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janie Ramirez; his children: Jorge Ramirez Jr. (wife Jennifer), Rosalinda Ramirez, Amy Barboza, Danica Barboza, David Levario (wife Naomi), and Elario Bustamantes (wife D’Andra); his brother Ernest Ramirez; and his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Natalia Ramirez, his brother Freddie Ramirez, and his beloved sister Nancy Ramirez.
A public visitation will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2026 from 1:00pm to 9:00pm at Pecos Funeral Home. Funeral Service will take place Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 2:00pm in the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Pecos, Texas.
