John Denton

February 17, 1918 — March 24, 2017

On March 24th, one of the best cowboys went to the great round-up in the sky. John Henry Denton, 99, of Pecos, Texas, passed away in Odessa, Texas.
Visitation will be held at the Pecos Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 28th 2017. Visitors may come and go at their convince up to 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 29th 2017 at 11:00am at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with Rand Foster Officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Mount Evergreen Cemetery.
John Denton was born in Gilmer, Texas, to John Calvin and Minnie Pearl Denton on February 17, 1918. He married Bobbie Earven on May 29, 1965, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Throughout his lifetime, John ranched in Arizona, Oregon, California and West Texas. John was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army 7th Calvary. He served in the South Pacific. He was awarded 2 bronze stars and a purple heart.
John was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three bothers.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bobbie Denton, daughter Sheri Miller-Ortiz (Joe Ortiz), Roberta Read (Quail Read), and Jonnie Benge (Ronnie Benge). He had six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
John is also survived by one brother, Grant Denton, one sister, Mable Allred, along with many nephews, nieces, and family friends.
The family of John Denton wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Pecos Nursing Home and Dr. Cerna for all they have done for him.
