Jimmy Dee Boatman, (Retired Sgt) 76, of Pecos, passed away on September 6, 2025 in Pecos.
Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 to 8:00, Friday 9:00 to 9:00, at Pecos Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held Saturday, September 13th at 11:00 am with Dr Kevin G Mitchell of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Mr Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements are by Pecos Funeral Home.
Jimmy was born on November 19, 1948 in Salinas, CA, to Jay Dee and Onita Boatman. One of three children, Jimmy graduated from Salinas High School with the opportunity to play College baseball. Faced with time of war Jimmy chose to serve his county during the Vietnam War. He was a veteran of the Vietnam, Kuwait and Iraq wars. He served in the Army, Marines and National Guard and was awarded several medals.
After more than 20 years of service Jimmy settled in Pecos, TX with the love of his life Olivia A Boatman and retired as a Correctional Office from Reeves County Detention Center 3. He also loved fishing, watching Western movies and rooting for his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents Jay and Onita Boatman.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Olivia Boatman, sons Jimmy Dee Boatman, Jr (Miranda) of Joshua, TX and Jonathan Boatman (Ashley) of Arlington, TX. Step-Daughters Cherry Guerrero (Sergio) Odessa, TX, Debbie Garcia (Jose), Michelle Lara (late Rene), Melissa Silvas, Traci Ramirez (late Gabriel) and Sally Silvas (Jaime) all of Pecos. Sister Madeline Tomasetti, Harford, CA and brother Darrell Boatman, Fresno, CA. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Reeves County Veterans memorial.
