Jerry Douglas Byrne Sr, 78 formally of Pecos passed away on June 2, 2017 at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth Texas.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 6, 2017 from 10:00 am to 9:00 PM
Family will receive friend from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday June 6, 2017

Funeral Services will be held at West Part Baptist Church in Pecos Texas at 10:00 am on Wednesday June 7, 2017 with Rev Rey Carreon Officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Fort Davis Texas at 3:00 PM on Wednesday June 7, 2017

Jerry Douglas Byrne, Sr. was born November 12, 1938 in Archer County, west of Wichita Falls and went to be with his Lord and Savior June 2, 2017. He was one of five children born to Francis Ollie and Eula Faye Byrne. In 1959, Jerry married Mary Grace Collins. Together they had 4 children. In 1967, he recognized his calling in Law Enforcement. He first went to work as a police officer in Monahans and Athens, TX and 2 years later went through the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol Academy. As a Highway Patrolman, Jerry's duty stations included, Abilene, Balmorhea, Pecos, Monahans, and Mt. Pleasant. He retired from the Highway Patrol in 1993 but immediately went back to work as a civilian for DPS as a Motor Vehicle Inspection Technician where he worked in Ft. Stockton, TX and retired the second time in 1999.
Jerry is survived by his 4 children: Jerry Byrne Jr and wife Robin of Midland, TX, Suzette Byrne Wingo and her husband, Tony of Pecos, TX, Jennifer Byrne Conger and husband Jarret also of Pecos, TX, and Robin Byrne Teters of Midlothian, TX. He has 10 grandchildren. Will Kington, Tyler Kington, Chase Wingo, Rachel Byrne-Stanley, Rebecca Byrne, Quinten Conger, Dana Conger, Lauren Conger, Baleigh Teters and K.C. Teters, He has 4 great grand-children.
He is also survived by 3 sisters: Joyce Young and husband Johnny of Longview, TX, Martha Maddox of Ft. Worth, TX and Tammy Durham and husband Steve of Ft. Worth, TX, and one brother, Steve Byrne also of Ft. Worth, TX.
Jerry was a man of great character and integrity and was devoted to his family and its legacy. He was known and respected by most all Law Enforcement Agencies in West Texas. He was a devout Christian who was committed to his family, church family, and spent a great deal of his day studying scripture and praying for all that were in need.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Faye Byrne.
Pallbearers are former Texas Department of Public Safety partners: Fred Parrott, Rusty Hill, Glenn Wood, Hugh Lillie, David Byrnes, Cory Crumrine,
and Bruce Jackson.
Honorary Pallbearers: William Kington, Tyler Kington, Chase Wingo, Quinten Conger and K.C. Teters
Services are entrusted to Pecos Funeral Home.
