Gino Ray “Blackie” Mendoza, of Pecos, TX, passed away on January 27, 2026, in Reeves County, Texas.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Pecos Funeral Home, with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Santa Rosa Church, with Father Gabriel Terrones officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Pecos Funeral Home.
Gino Ray “Blackie” Mendoza was born in Jal, New Mexico, to Dominga Connie Flórez and Manuel “Rockie” S. Mendoza on November 25, 1963. He attended school in Reeves County, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Antonia S. Mendoza; father, Hipólito “Paul” Mendoza; biological father, Manuel “Rockie” Mendoza; stepfather, Francisco “Kiko” Rayos Flórez; and grandchildren, Anthony G., Angel G., and Michael M.
He is survived by his daughters, Desderae A.K. Mendoza and Raelean A.G. Mendoza; his son, Waylon P.B. Mendoza; his mother; Dominga Connie Flórez, sisters, Valmina Leyva and her husband Johnny, and Laura Rogers and her husband Doss; and his brothers, Frank Flórez Jr. and his wife Viviana, and brother Raymond Mendoza. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Prascilla G., Zachariah M., Xavier G., Ariel M., Azmerae M., Sergio C. Jr., Luis C., Nathaniel C., and Nevah S.
Pallbearers will be Waylon Mendoza, Zachariah Mendoza, Xavier Gutierrez, Sergio Cerna Jr., Stephen Rodriguez, Darrin Machuca, Rubén Juarez, and Isaac Núñez.
