Eloisa Avila Gomez

Eloisa Gomez, 74, of Pecos, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on January 17, 2024, in Pecos, TX. 

Eloisa Gomez was born in Pecos, TX to Manuel and Ofelia Avila on December 1, 1949. She graduated from Barstow High School and married her high school sweetheart Frederico P. Gomez on December 19, 1969. Majority of her career was with PBT-ISD, but her main love was music. As leader of the church choir for over 25 years, you would find her playing her guitar at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic in Barstow. Pursuing her love for music, she took on the role of director of the Pecos High School Mariachi Band. As an amazing cook and baker, she was known for her delicious desserts. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband Frederico P. Gomez, her parents Manuel and Ofelia Avila, her sister Mary Skelton and her brother Manuel Avila Jr.

Survived by her sons Lee Gomez, Chris Gomez (Nina), Rene Gomez (Susie) and daughter Martie Ramirez; her seven grandsons and granddaughter Kayla Gomez; four great granddaughters and eight sisters.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons CJ Gomez, Zack Gomez, Lee Gomez Jr. Tyler Gomez, Sebastian Ramirez, Chris Gomez Jr. and Daniel Gomez

The family will receive friends and family on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 11amm to 9pm with Rosary service at 7pm at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home.

Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, 2pm at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Barstow. Burial will follow at Barstow cemetery.
