Donny Ray Winfrey, a beloved figure known for his hearty sense of humor and indelible love for his family, passed away on June 6, 2026, in El Paso, Texas. Born on February 9, 1964, in Pecos, Texas, Donny spent a life rich with passion and dedication, leaving behind cherished memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.

Donny's career as a truck driver was marked by commitment and hard work, but it was his personal interests and relationships that truly defined him. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, proudly displaying trophies from numerous rallies that spoke to his expertise and adventurous spirit. His love extended to car shows, and he dedicated time to traveling, maintaining his house, and lovingly working on his cars and motorcycles. Equally important to him was the companionship of his dog and the joy of spending time shooting guns with his family.

Renowned for his well-timed dad jokes and infectious laughter, Donny brought lightheartedness and warmth wherever he went. His devotion to his children and grandchildren was unwavering, nurturing a close-knit family that adored him deeply.

Donny’s surviving family includes his children Shelly Smith; Kristy Hernandez and her husband Toby; Skylar Smith; and Donny Winfrey with his wife Ana. His grandchildren—Madison Smith, Ty Scott Nelson, Mia Hernandez, Stella Hernandez, Psalm Hernandez, Sebastian Winfrey, Bryson Winfrey, Araceli Winfrey, and seven others. He is also survived by his sister Lorina Anaya, aunts Eva Quintela and Maria Elena Campos, uncles Adan Anaya and Arnie Anaya, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who formed his extended family circle.

Donny was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Elisa Winfrey, and his son Bryant Winfrey, whose memories continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved them.

The community and family are invited to celebrate Donny’s life at Pecos Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, June 13, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM, with burial to take place at Fairview Cemetery in Pecos at 12:00 PM.

Donny Ray Winfrey’s legacy is one of joyful resilience—a man who embraced life’s journeys with enthusiasm and humor, leaving an enduring imprint on his family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
