Dionisio Garcia

Dionisio "Nicho" Avila Garcia (92), of Barstow, Texas, passed away on October 18, 2018 peacefully in Midland, Texas.

Visitation will be at Pecos Funeral Home, from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Sunday, October 21, 2018 and from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday, October 22, 2018. Rosary will be held on Monday, October 22, 2108 at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel at 7:30 PM.

Mass will be held at Santa Rosa Catholic Church, in Pecos, Texas at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 23, 2018. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Pecos, Texas. Arrangements are made by Pecos Funeral Home.

Dionisio was born December 25, 1925 in Barstow, Texas to Leonora and Calistro Garcia. Dionisio married Manuela Gomez on November 11, 1944 in Barstow, Texas. Shortly after their marriage Dionisio was drafted into the United States Army, serving proudly and honorably in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a lifetime auto mechanic, devout Catholic, proud veteran and avid baseball fan. He most enjoyed attending any sporting event his grandchildren/great grandchildren participated in.

Dionisio was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife of 73 years, Manuela, Daughter, Delma Lerma, Grandson, Michael Garcia, Great Grandson, Nick Gutierrez, Great Granddaughter, Mia Granado and Son-In-Law, Ramon Contreras.

Dioniso is survived by his children Hortensia Contreras; Lupe Garcia; Norma Garnto and Sons in law, Henry Lerma and Vaughn Garnto, 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Pall Bearers will be his beloved grandsons, Tony Contreras; Chris Lerma; Gerald Garcia; Jaime Lerma; Timothy Garcia; Christopher Garnto and Brandon Garnto.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Pecos Nursing home and staff for their continued care of our beloved father.
