Bonifacio Natividad

Bonifacio L. Natividad, 87, of Pecos, passed away on Monday evening, November 10, 2025, at his home in Pecos. He was surrounded by his sons, Barney and Benny, along with his wife, Celia.

The Rosary will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Pecos Funeral Home at 7pm. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 20th, from 10am to 9pm.

Holy Mass will be held at 10am on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Pecos. Burial will follow at Pyote Cemetery.

Bonifacio, aka Facho, was born on June 5, 1938 to Jesus and Merced Natividad in Pyote. He attended Pyote school (from K to high school) and graduated in 1958. He married his high school sweetheart, Celia, in February 1961.

Bonifacio worked for Texaco 30 years where he was known as Bo. He faithfully served in the US Army from 1961 to 1963. He was an active member of Santa Rosa Catholic Church. He worked for the Texas Veterans Commission. For many years, he assisted veterans in getting their benefits. He was also a member of the Lions Club and the Catholic War Veterans. In his retirement years, they traveled throughout the United States and Canada along with lifelong friends.

In his later years, he attended Odessa College. After his retirement from Texaco, he worked at the Reeves County prison teaching woodworking which was a side passion of his. For his grandchildren, he built each a toy box. Many of his woodworking projects can be seen in their home.

Bonifacio is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Merced Natividad, and brothers, Alfonso “Poncho” Natividad and Edwardo “Lalo” Natividad.

Bonifacio is survived by his sweetheart/wife of over 65 years, Celia, sons Bonifacio Jr. Natividad of Kyle, Bernardo Natividad of Pecos, Benito (Esther) Natividad of Bryan, and daughter Beatrice (Robert Jr) George of Gordonsville, Va.

He is survived by sisters, Jesusita Cobos of Monahans and Margie (Dimas) Carrasco of Monahans, and brother, Augustin (Virginia) Natividad of Odessa. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew (Adriana) Natividad of Bryan, Celia (Steven) McMichael of New Braunfels, Bernardo Natividad Jr. of Sutherland Springs, Sierra Natividad of Bryan, Thomas Natividad of Bryan, Eric George of Charlottesville, Va, and Sara George of Gordonsville, Va. His great-grandchildren, Valentin, Aiden, Madelynn, Athena, Reigan, Baker, and Soliana.

He is survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Natividad, Bernardo Natividad Jr., Thomas Natividad, Eric George, Nacho Pelayo Jr., Steve Rayos, Edward Sanchez, and Sergio Flores.

Memorials may be given in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family of Bonifacio wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to those who cared for Bo throughout these years like Veterans Administration, Pecos Home Health Nurses, Wound Care, Visiting Angels, MCH of Odessa, and others. Alzheimer’s is a cruel disease. It may have robbed him of his memories but none of ours. It is called the “Long Goodbye” for that reason.

I, Beatrice, along with my brothers, Jr. and Benny, would like to acknowledge and give thanks to our brother, Barney, for caring for both our Dad and Mom throughout these years. Barney retired from the IRS over 7 years ago and, instead of “traveling and enjoying retirement”, he came home to Pecos to care for Dad. Barney went above and beyond for Dad in all aspects of life care.
