Anastasio “Tacho” Minjarez, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, Vietnam veteran, and respected member of the West Texas community, passed away at the age of 76 on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Born on October 6,1949 in Pecos, Texas, to his parents Anastacio Sr. and Angelita Minjarez. Tacho lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, faith, and love for his family. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1968 and served honorably during the Vietnam War.
After returning home, Tacho devoted his life to the oil and gas industry, working as a gas midstream operator throughout West Texas. Known for his strong work ethic, knowledge, and commitment to the job, he spent 43 years in the industry before retiring in 2016. He earned the respect of coworkers and friends through his quiet strength, dependability, and willingness to help others.
In addition to his work in the energy industry, Tacho also held a real estate license and proudly served at one time as the Reeves County Veterans Representative, where he assisted and advocated for fellow veterans in the community he deeply loved.
Tacho is preceded in death by his parents; Anastacio Sr. and Angelita Minjarez, brothers Bobby Minjarez, Rudy Minjarez, Tony Minjarez and Raymond Minjarez.
Above all, Tacho was devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Velma Minjarez; his sons, Steven Minjarez and Michael Minjarez; his grandson, Landon; and his brother, Roy Minjarez. His family will forever remember his guidance, sacrifices, humor, and unconditional love.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Pecos Funeral Home from 9:00AM to 9:00PM with Rosary to be held at 7:00PM at Pecos Funeral Home. Mass will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 10:00AM at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church in Pecos, Texas with burial to follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos, Texas.
Pallbearers will include:Sam Briones, Ruben Flores, Adan De la Rosa, Rene Galindo, Randy Lozano, and Landon Minjarez.
Tacho’s life was one of service — to his country, his community, his work, and most importantly, his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
