Alvaro Estrella, 98, passed away on September 16, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, stories, and love shared with generations of family and friends.

Alvaro was a simple, hardworking man who found happiness in the things that mattered most to him—his family, his work, music, and the memories made throughout his long life. He spent many years working on a cattle ranch, including Cibolo Ranch, and also worked as a seismographer from approximately 1970 to 1992.

Those who knew Alvaro will remember a man who was always whistling or listening to music. He especially enjoyed Mexican novelas. He loved animals, particularly horses, and enjoyed riding horses during his life. Some of his happiest moments were simply spending time with his friends and family. 

Above all, Alvaro loved his family. He especially enjoyed talking with his daughters and grandchildren and was known for always having a story to tell. With 98 years of life behind him, Alvaro carried with him countless stories, experiences, and memories that he loved sharing with those around him. His simple nature, love for his family, and the stories he shared will remain treasured memories for generations to come.

Alvaro was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Juanita N. Estrella; his son, Oscar Estrella; his daughter, Geneva Estrella; and his grandson, Oscar Estrella.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Carlos Estrella, Alfredo Estrella, Ismael Estrella, Paula Estrella Sanchez, Nicolas Estrella Baeza, Rivas Estrella Franco, Aquiles Estrella, Concepcion Estrella Acosta, and Gregoria Arenivaz Estrella.

Alvaro is survived by his son, Luis R. Estrella and wife Carmen; his daughters, Hortencia E. Carrasco, Gloria E. Carbajal, and Leticia Estrella.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Ben Estrella, Maria Estrella Paredes, Consuelo Estrella Cataño, and Maria Arenivaz Estrella.

His beloved grandchildren include Yesenia Taramgo and husband Eddie, Anna Marquez and husband Genaro, Armando Carbajal, Abel Carbajal and wife Marissa, George M. Carbajal, Pablo Carbajal, Omar Carbajal, Alvaro Carbajal and wife Maria, Roberto Garcia and wife Angelica, Noel Borjon, Sara Borjon, and Marisol Borjon.

Alvaro's legacy continues through his numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were part of the large family he cherished throughout his life.

After nearly a century of life, Alvaro leaves behind much more than dates and names. He leaves behind the sound of his whistle, the Mexican songs he enjoyed, memories of horses and ranch life, stories told to his children and grandchildren, and the example of a simple man who loved being surrounded by family and friends. His stories will continue to be told, his memory will continue to be shared, and his presence will remain a part of his family for generations.
