Joseph Marks Tarin, 30, resident of Austin, Tx., formerly of Pecos, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019 in Austin.
He was born on April 8, 1989 in Odessa, Texas and attended school in Pecos where he graduated from Pecos High School in May, 2007. He was a member of the golf and basketball team in junior and high school and was a friend to many.
His passion in life became his desire to cook and create new dishes. He worked as a chef at different restaurants and food trucks in Austin but started his culinary career here in Pecos by working at Best Western Sunday House Restaurant and La Fiesta Restaurant. He strived to learn different dishes and to perfect his culinary skills by enrolling at Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute in Austin.
Joseph is survived by his loving parents, Victor and Rachel Tarin of Pecos, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends that cherished his friendship and ability to remain a “free spirit”.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John Benjamin Tarin, his maternal grandparents Joseph and Beryl Billeiter and his paternal grandparents, Raul and Monce Tarin.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 23 at 10 am at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church with Fr. Fabian Marquez officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends may visit the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, July 22.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations or memorials made to St. Jude’s Children’s’ Research Hospital, American Cancer Society, West of the Pecos Museum, ASPCA or to a favorite charity.
